Where Does Teak Wood Come From?

Most Teak Wood like ours come from plantations with a very controlled harvest cycle as a renewable business. Teak (Tectona grandis L.) is native to Southeast Asia, India, Cambodia, Laos and Vietnam, where it can reach heights of up to 40 meters. Currently, plantations are also found in tropical areas in Africa and Latin America, where trees grow faster than in their place of origin, which decreases short shifts and makes their use more interesting every day.

Whether you buy from me or from another Indonesian factory direct you need a third party watching your production. I have the experience to be sure you get what you order. It costs a lot of money for most buyers to travel to Indonesia to manage their production. I am available either as your direct supplier or as an inspector to be sure you get what you order from here.

As a furniture buyer, it is important that you buy from a reliable manufacturer. There are many important things to keep in mind when you buy furniture.

Wood is a natural material and will always move throughout the different seasons. It is important that your supplier knows how to apply the best materials and construction in order to minimize the risks for quality issues. The main issues with poor quality starts with the wood. You need older growth trees harvested after much of the sugar in the grain has been consumed by the tree. Second the wood has to be kiln dried to below 12% moisture content.

As a furniture buyer it is important to find the right balance between price and quality. In the end it is a lot about money. Minimizing material costs can be important but on the other hand you want to buy qualitative good quality materials in order to minimize quality issues. Buying cheap furniture will cause a lot more trouble and extra costs in the long run.

It is required of all exporters to provide proof the wood used in production of furniture is legally harvested. we do not use or deal with any factory that is not certified by the Indonesian government.
