Crafted from legally certified teak wood all of our outdoor wood furniture is environmentally friendly. The wood only comes from plantation forests that are re-planted immediately after the cutting of the trees. It is a business the same as any other. If they do not look to the future they would not have a business for long.

Moreover, teak does not grow naturally in the Indonesian rainforest in any sufficient numbers to warrant commercial logging in the way Pine does. It was originally brought to Indonesia by the Dutch who started teak plantations.  Teak was brought here some 200 years ago after which, the government of Indonesia has since taken over and developed it to what it is today. Also, the world’s largest teak plantations are managed by Perum Perhutani. They manage nearly 5 million acres of sustainable forests. Through careful and responsible forest management, trees are constantly being planted at a rate that far exceeds those being harvested.

Because teak is a slow-growing crop, the Perum Perhutani managed system incorporates agro-forestry for the locals to farm other crops between the rows of planted teak trees.  This process allows the local people to have additional income along with the benefits the teak forest industry has brought to their local economy.
